Battlers Drop Road Contest to Nationally Ranked Glenville State

Alderson Broaddus Women's Basketball team lost on the Road to the Ninth-Ranked Glenville State Lady Pioneers 126-68. The Battlers would shoot 46 percent from the field but turned the ball over 36 times. Glenville would score 46 points off of those turnovers.

Glenville State got off to an early 9-0 lead until Iyahnna Williams got the Battlers on the board with a fast break layup. A pair of AB turnovers would allow GSU to extend their lead and they wouldn't look back. Glenville State's Mickayla Perdue would score 11 of her game-high 26 points in the first quarter for the Lady Pioneers to lead the way.

Hannah Taylor and Iyahnna Williams put together an impressive 2nd quarter, helping the Battlers almost triple what they scored in the first. AB would continue to fight but the Glenville State pressure would prove to be too much. The Lady Pioneers would force AB into 10 turnovers in the quarter, propelling them to a 63-26 halftime lead.

Coming out of the half, Glenville would go on a 25-4 run and reach the 100-point mark with 1:54 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Amil Mitchel and Hannah Taylor would finish the quarter strong for the Battlers with back-to-back layups.

Alderson Broaddus performed their best in the closing quarter, outscoring the Lady Pioneers 25-17. The Battlers shot 47.6 percent from the field and outrebounded Glenville while also showing quality ball control with only three turnovers. A 12-2 run by AB proved a strong finish against the defending National Champions. Iyahnna Williams led the Battlers in scoring with 22 points followed by Hannah Taylor with 12. Williams also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded seven steals. Londaisha Smith chimed in nine points and six rebounds as well.
