Men's Volleyball goes 2-1 at Hiram Invitational

The Alderson Broaddus Men's Volleyball team opened the 2023 season with three matches at the Hiram Invitational hosted by Hiram College. Following a five set loss to Adrian on Friday afternoon, the Battlers rebounded to win both matches on Saturday.  Defeating Kentucky State 3-2 and host Hiram 3-0.

Friday Match 1-Adrian 3, Alderson Broaddus 2 : The Battlers opened the Hiram Invitational with Adrian College. They would win the first two sets, 27-25, 25-21. Adrian would change the momemtum of the match taking the next two 22-25,23-25 before pulling out a close fifth set 15-13. 

Loic Nanchen led the Battlers with 15 kills while Andrew Nielsen pitched in 11 kills.  Andrew Haber led the Battler offense with 34 assists.  Nate Rogers  would pace the Battlers defensively with 10 digs.

Saturday Match 2 - Kentucky State 2,Alderson Broaddus 3: In the first match of the day, AB would again find themselves in a five set battle.  This time coming from behind in the fifth set to win 15-13.  The Battlers had three players pitch in double digit kills in the effort.  Nanchen again would lead with 15 kills while Jaelin Gray added 13 and Andrew Nielsen 11.  Haber led the Battlers offense with 38 assists.  Nanchen added 13 digs to help them defensively.

Saturday Match 3 - Hiram 0,Alderson Broaddus 3:  AB would finish out the weekend with a 3-0 sweep of host Hiram College.  Nanchen paced the offense with 8 kills, while Gray and Nielsen each added 8.  Andrew Haber added 24 assists in the final match of the day.  Jeffrey Phanphilathip added 9 digs. 

The Battlers will return to action Friday, January 27 at 7:00 PM as the host Tusculum University in Rex Pyles Arena.
